NILD Educational Therapy

Dr. Carolyn Simoneaux (Ed.D., M.Ed, MSED, PCET, SL/DS) is a certified NILD educational therapist, highly trained to work with students one-on-one or in group therapy. We are especially equipped to identify and assess a student's individual learning needs in a holistic approach, using the latest research and tests designed for student cognitive and achievement assessment. Once a student is assessed, beginning at the current performance level, we help him or her to progress in a systematic, spiral of learning. Learning deficits and disabilities are diagnosed and addressed, including ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia.

Dyslexia Therapy

Dyslexia is an unexpected reading difficulty for a person’s age intelligence, and academic level (Shaywitz, 2003). It can cause academic, employment, and emotional difficulties for otherwise bright and creative individuals. Dyslexia can be traumatic for a child or an adult. Though reading is difficult for an individual with dyslexia, the right instruction and intervention can open the window of reading. Many successful individuals have overcome this disability, including Stephen Spielberg, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Charles Schwab (International Dyslexia Association, 2019). “Dyslexia is a neurological condition caused by a different wiring of the brain. There is no cure for dyslexia and individuals with this condition must learn coping strategies. Diagnostic Assessment

CPS Educational Consulting does diagnostic assessment using WISC V for cognitive testing and KTEA 3 for academic achievement testing. We also offer other tests as needed. A comprehensive report and consultation is part of the testing process.
